2023 Market in Review

Happy January 2024! I hope that you had a fantastic holiday. While it is still very early to forecast the 2024 residential real estate market in Marin, based on the release of my first listing this past week in Ross, my sense is that demand is heightened, and buyers are ready to make commitments to new homes again. With imminent rate reduction/s forecasted for 2024, and the consensus that a recession is very unlikely, buyers appear to be out and ready to buy again. While supply is forecasted to remain low, my advice to buyers is to stop timing the market, and to buy homes that you love, that are good investments, and in great locations. My governing mantra is:  “Buy great homes at fair prices”. My advice for sellers is the same. The reset on valuations that occurred for most homes post-COVID still reflects incredible appreciation over the course of the last decade. The Covid bubble was a singular event and not a reflection of a permanent market here in Marin. I believe that we are now in a more normalized, healthy market with a bit of a resurgence in buyer activity. If you have questions about the Marin market, and/or would like my opinion on your home or a home you are considering buying, please feel free to reach out. Safe and happy start to 2024!
