Larkspur: A Place to Call Home

From the annual Downtown Larkspur Wine Stroll to a four-season calendar of events that sets Larkspur apart, both long-time and recent residents agree Larkspur remains the perfect place to call home. The Wine Stroll is an evening of community and camaraderie, attracting people from throughout the Bay Area and Marin. Visitors and residents return yearly to sip a diverse selection of wines while enjoying best bites from Larkspur restaurants. Larkspur’s events are for all ages and interests. From June through August, Larkspur Music in the Park is perfect for summer evenings and free. The Autumn Arts & Crafts Fest is always well-attended. Yet another free city event, the Tree Lighting, kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of 50 trees at once.

Larkspur combines the best of small-town living in a sustainable community where residents take pride in ownership while appreciating a unique lifestyle. Larkspur, with an abundance of green space and towering trees, offers homebuyers distinctive neighborhoods from condominiums near downtown to hillside single-family homes. Families seek out Larkspur for its highly rated public schools with K-8 a part of the Larkspur-Corte Madera School System. Redwood High School is ranked 36th among California’s top high schools. There are also several private schools in the area.

Biking and walking trails encourage outdoor activities in a perfect year-round climate. Larkspur is close to the rugged Marin Headlands with moderate to difficult hiking trails and unmatched bay views. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the historic stretch of Magnolia Avenue known as "Downtown Larkspur" seems anything but downtown. Residents and visitors enjoy coffee meetups, sophisticated dining, and unique shopping experiences. A walk down Magnolia is like traveling back in time to 1909 when Magnolia Avenue served as the major access road for much of Marin. Historic preservation can be seen everywhere. Look for architecture typical of small California towns in the early 1900s.

The Larkspur Ferry of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway & Transportation District connects Larkspur to the San Francisco Ferry Terminal via a 30-minute scenic ride across the Bay. It’s not surprising people choose Larkspur as home in part thanks to this unique and stress-free “commute.” The ferry service runs numerous times a day between both destinations. The Larkspur Ferry Terminal is conveniently located just east of Highway 101 with over 1,800 parking spaces at a nominal daily fee of $2. Across from the Ferry Terminal is the dining and shopping destination of the Marin County Mart at Larkspur Landing. It has established itself as a mecca for Marin foodies. Trendy one-off shops of all types add to its appeal. The Saturday Farmers’ Market is a community hub and among the best in Marin. One more reason Larkspur is “A Place to Call Home.”
